Scrambling to support Rob Bell . . . What to do????

What is an organization, a pastor, a campus minister, a small group leader, a bookseller, a youth minister, a church to do when a favored teacher exposes his heresy?  We are seeing things unravel among post-modern evangelicals (no longer an oxymoron, I fear) to defend their prior approval of Rob Bell. There is a lot of slicing and dicing — to maintain integrity.

Written in 2007, Bob Robinson, Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO) criticizes John MacArthur and his commentary on Rob Bell.  While John MacArthur would be the first to encourage a Berean-like examination (Acts 17) of any of his teachings, unlike Rob Bell, John MacArthur can stand and defend his position no matter the year it was written or delivered.

Here is Bob Robinson’s  2007  article:  Is Rob Bell a Godless Man, Condemned by God?  Perhaps Bob has more information now to answer his question?

What say you, Bob?  Here is Bob’s recent thoughts on Rob Bell and Love Wins.  Perhaps, Bob is still unsure of Biblical truth? Is he influencing your college student?

but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble,
it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck,
and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.”

–Jesus, Matthew 18:6

  1. this book has been a challenge for those of us who have loved to use the nooma videos. and the rhetoric on both sides has been sad. I have wrestled a lot with how to approach this book and this is my conclusion.
