Buddhist Sympathizer Keynotes at Geneva College’s Leadership Conference

The 10th Annual Geneva College Leadership Conference will be held April 16 at the Pittsburgh Marriot North in Cranberry Township.  Sponsored by Geneva’s Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) program, in partnership with Serving Leaders of Pittsburgh, the conference will focus on the power of serving-leadership to transform organizational culture and unleash the potential of people.

Our featured keynote speaker this year is leadership author and business consultant, Ken Blanchard. Blanchard’s nearly three dozen books on leadership have sold over 18 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 25 languages.  In 1999, he co-founded The Center for Faithwalk Leadership, now known as Lead Like Jesus.

Let’s look at a few of Ken Blanchard’s books and book endorsements:

“Buddha points to the path and invites us to begin our journey to enlightenment. I … invite you to begin your journey to enlightened work.”—Ken Blanchard, foreword What Would Buddha Do at Work?

“I look for inspirational messages from a variety of sources besides Jesus. Our folks get to hear words of wisdom from great prophets and spiritual leaders like Buddha, Mohammed … Yogananda and the Dalai Lama.”—Ken Blanchard, foreword

“Jim Ballard’s wonderful book, Mind Like Water … I hope that you and countless other readers will find in Mind Like Water some ways to calm your mind and uplift your consciousness.”—KB

and this excerpt is from Ballard’s book:

“I signed up for the yoga meditation lessons … founded by Paramahansa Yogananda….I had evidently reached a level of consciousness beyond the usual … I continue to consider meditation far and away the most important thing I do.”—Jim Ballard, Mind Like Water, p. 77,78.

In this book, Ballard teaches breath prayer, visualization, mantra meditation, and a number of other practices to enter the altered state of consciousness. Ballard is an advocate for interspirituality and pantheism.

Lead Like Jesus by Ken Blanchard

“We asked you in our encounter to go out and experience solitude…. Place your hands on your knees in a down position … If walking, visualize yourself in this position … in harmony with the position of your hands, mentally put down everything you are concerned about … take a couple of deep breaths and turn your hands physically and mentally into an upward position.
“—KB from Day 22
