At the Morning Watch…Hard Times Ahead

Many bloggers are sounding a warning for Christians.  Undoubtedly, these times are proving to be quite a challenge in flags_250many respects: economically, politically, and spiritually.  And yet we are commanded to pray for our leaders (1 Tim. 2:1-2) and to live “soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ…”  (Titus 2:12-13)

Paul Proctor exhorts us to turn to God’s Holy Word for Truth and comfort.  We would do well to heed his wise advice.  You can read his NewsWithViews.com commentary at this site:

There used to be a saying, “Safe in the arms of Jesus.”  Was it a song, maybe?  Anyway, Henry Lamb has taken that old phrase and put a new twist on it in this article, “Safe in the Arms of Government”.   Speaking of the ‘new power brokers in Washington,’ Lamb points out that what Obama says to the public is often different than what his ‘lieutenants‘ are doing while we are looking the other way.  All this in the name of ‘public safety’, ‘what’s best for our country’, or some other dire need that requires the inclusion of  some government agency.  Keep your eyes open!

Dr. Gary Cass, of the Christian Anti-Defemation Commission writes in, Reverend Obama:  Doubter in Chief, about Obama’s controversial commencement speech at Notre Dame.  Apparently, Obama can’t seem to figure out his own beliefs about his ‘Christian’ faith and seems to misunderstand his own salvation when he says he “came to faith because churches did community service.”

As you consider what these writers have to say, remember that our Hope does NOT exist in government, but in Christ Jesus.
