U.S. Department of Peace

From the Lighthouse:

On February 3, 2009, the Department of Peace bill HR 808 was updated and introduced to Congress by Senator Dennis Kucinich. For those who are not familiar with the efforts by prolific New Age leaders to bring to reality a US Department of Peace, these efforts began several years ago at a grassroots level. Support for the new department grew and presently 66 members of Congress are supporting the effort. Just one week after the new president took office, the updated Department of Peace bill was introduced.

As we stated in an article titled The Election is Over – What About the Department of Peace?, the Department of Peace will be a means to enforce New Age-based hate-crime legislation. And such legislation will ultimately remove the freedom of speech with regard to declaring the biblical Gospel as the only means of salvation. It will also remove the freedom for public figures (including pastors) to say that the homosexual lifestyle is wrong and sinful (a freedom that has already been restricted in Canada). Also worked into the wording of the bill are restrictions on ownership of guns.2 Ultimately, though, this is a plan to silence the messengers of the true Gospel.
As Bible-believing Christians, let us continue defending the faith in the midst of a dark and lost world that has rejected God’s Savior, Jesus Christ, as the only answer to man’s lostness. While bills and laws will pass, continually changing the structure and functioning of our society, nothing can change the truth found in His Word.

Lighthouse Trails has set up a research page for those who wish to track the “progress” of the Department of Peace.

  1. You are absolutely right!

The bill (HR808) currently before the U.S. House of Representatives to establish a Cabinet-level U.S. Department of Peace sounds good on the surface and is heralded as “a historic measure (that) will augment our current problem-solving options, providing practical, nonviolent solutions to the problems of domestic and international conflict.” This pretty jargon rallies support from the masses that tend to take things at face-value. We should dig deeper, though, and ask ourselves just how this department would “strengthen nonmilitary means of peacemaking.”

The Peace Alliance Foundation, is a citizen lobbying group whose primary goal is to create a U.S. Department of Peace. It has widespread individual and organizational support, including Amnesty International, the National Organization For Women, the Order of International Co-Freemasonry, and numerous others listed on their website. Originally called The Global Renaissance Alliance, it was co-founded by Marianne Williamson and Neale Donald Walsch.

Williamson’s books, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles and Healing the Soul of America, espouses the New Age “spiritual principle” that global peace will be attained when we realize that we are all gods. Neale Donald Walsch is the best-selling author of Conversations with God. Walsch’s “god” also states that God and humanity are one. Both Williamson and Walsch preach a “new gospel” intended to replace the “old gospel.”

The “nonviolent solutions to the problems of domestic and international conflict” will be unmasked and we will become “partners in peace” when it is understood that “we are all one.” This is the hidden agenda of the proposed U.S. Department of Peace.

I urge readers to reject the proposal for a U.S. Department of Peace. Otherwise, America could have this cabinet-level department in the executive branch of Government with a Secretary of Peace at its head. The proposal brilliantly disguises an anti-Christian agenda at it’s core.
